Excellent Tailoring Meets Modern Style In Today’s Tweeds
The woolen fabrics known as tweeds are recognized around the world for their soft, flexible and open texture presented in popular and recognizable patterns. The rough woolen fabric resembles homespun or cheviot but is more closely woven than either. Usually woven in either a twill or plain weave, it has muted and variegated colours (like heather mixtures) that provide an interesting yet subdued effect. This is achieved by twisting different colours of wool strands together to make two-ply or three-ply yarn. Tweed is very desirable as a fabric for outwear worn during leisure and sporting activities.This fabric is well-known and easily recognized. It was initially named tweel by its Scottish manufacturers who wove it in a twill, not plain, pattern.
